Paragon Veterinary Referrals – Inclusive Workplaces

Supporting businesses to become more neuro inclusive

Paragon Veterinary Referrals contacted Autism Plus as they were seeking to improve their practices around how they supported neurodivergent employees across the business. They were keen to create a safe and supportive environment, taking into account practices and surroundings.

Our trainer met with the senior team to discuss their needs. They decided that a workplace needs assessment would be beneficial, but focused on the business as a whole, rather than an individual employee.

The assessment involved meetings with team members at all levels, including current Neurodivergent employees. It also included a thorough workplace walk-around and observations of how different parts of the business functioned in practice.

The report included recommendations on how Paragon could improve practices, such as:

  • Identifying a quiet space where team members could go when feeling overwhelmed
  • Improving clarity around break times and structuring them more clearly
  • Making environments less sensory overwhelming
  • Providing information visually to help with information processing, reducing reliance on verbal instructions where possible

Paragon were delighted with the assessment, not only the report and recommendations, but also the suggestions given on the day of the assessment and the ongoing dialogue with our team. We are pleased to see what a positive impact the assessment has had within the business.

“I just wanted to pass on my thanks for your report which will be really useful for us when planning for next year, but also provides some relatively simple solutions for our Neurodivergent associates.”
