Corey was a victim of antisocial behaviour happening outside his house. There would be a group of teenagers who constantly harrassed him and his dog, banging on the windows, climbing on his roof, threatening to hurt him etc.
Corey was on a long waiting list to be moved but he needed support to get him moved to higher up on the waiting list as it was necessary he was moved as soon as possible.
We supported Corey with communicating with the necessary people to ensure that he got moved to a safer environment. During this time, we also helped to build up Corey’s CV and cover letters ready for job searching.
Once the living situation improved, we helped Corey to secure volunteering with GROW which helped to improve his confidence and work towards his Horticulture career.
Corey ended up being offered an interview for College as well as one for a GROW apprenticeship. After working on interview skills and discussing his options, Corey went for the apprenticeship interview and was successful!
Corey felt safer in his home environment. This allowed him to begin focusing on himself again. Corey was better able to sort out his sleep routine, get engaged with his previous passions and hobbies and work towards bettering his mental health.
We also supported Corey in talking about his struggles and reaching out for support more. This ended in being more open with and gaining support from family, medical professionals and his place of work.
Corey felt better able to engage with our support which helped him to progress further with his career. As mentioned above, he felt able to begin the search for work experience and this ended in him becoming an apprentice gardener at GROW.
