Ryan was referred to our Rise2Thrive programme from Jobcentre Plus shortly after receiving an autism diagnosis. During the initial appointment Ryan showed limited verbal communication, relying on non-verbal cues such as pointing, nodding and using his phone to express his needs.

Jack came to Autism Plus Specialist Employment support whilst completing a placement at the Chocolate Skills Academy, located at Autism Plus Chocolate Factory in Knaresborough.

When we first met Oliver, we saw a determined young person who needed people to believe in them. Oliver knew that they were ready to work and was willing to put in the effort to making this happen.

Ethan came to the service with the hope of accessing help to apply for a Teacher Training course. They had missed previous deadlines due to anxiety and struggled speaking to their friends and family about this. Ethan had been unemployed for a year prior to this.

We supported Corey with communicating with the necessary people to ensure that he got moved to a safer environment. During this time, we also helped to build up Corey’s CV and cover letters ready for job searching.

Matthew is an extremely passionate young man, with a vivid interest in the rail industry. We are delighted to have been able to support him into this voluntary position and look forward to supporting him to continue his journey towards employment 

Daniel, a young man on the autism spectrum, sought support from Autism Plus to navigate the challenges of understanding and embracing his autism diagnosis. Despite his enthusiasm for cars, Formula 1, music, and travel, Daniel struggled with confidence and envisioning a future in the workforce.

Covid saw Robert loose his employment and confidence too, with the support of our team we helped Robert overcome his barriers and move back into paid employment.

Juggling his own mental health whilst looking after his son was challenging for Alex, but with our support he secured paid employment and was able to move forward with his life.

From a small remote village in North Yorkshire Adam was losing hope in his job search, our team supported him to secure his dream role in marketing through our Rise programme.

Adam progressed from full dependence on mum to volunteering in Autism Plus chocolate shop and Cafe independently through accessing our Rise Programme.

Dylan has been accessing our SEND Youth Hub Programme to help build his confidence about entering the world of work.

Nathan accessed our Multiply project to help him develop financial confidence as he took his first steps on his journey towards work. Nathan embraced the support from the Multiply project and was unaware of the support available for him prior to finding our about our project.

Our team supported Kit to look at barriers to employment, this included looking at reasonable adjustments and application forms. We looked at traits of ADHD and identified the ones that Kit identified with and how these might present in a workplace.

Jordan successfully gained a part time role working for Heron Frozen Foods. We are continuing Jordan’s support through Access to Work and Jordan feels this has been beneficial.

Toby is keen to combine his self-employed gardening work with selling his artwork and would also like to look into eco gardening. He would also like to run art sessions at Autism Plus to promote social skills and improve mental health for our clients.

Sara now feels a lot more capable of looking for jobs independently and being more ready for a job interview. She has now obtained a permanent place to live and she has a support worker that helps her during the week.

Cameron first came to Autism Plus in March 2023 accessing our Sheffield based employability project for autistic adults. Cameron had been unemployed over a year when he came to us for support in finding paid employment.

Ashley received support from Autism Plus Specialist Employment Team, who worked closely with him to build his confidence and identify the type of volunteering opportunities he would be interested in.
